"Sun, Sun, Sun"Wills Park Pool (2023)
The inspiration for this crosswalk design was cool summer waves and a groovy state of mind. "Here Comes the Sun," by George Harrison, from the 1969 album Abbey Road. The song is about hope and inspired by the long winters in England which Harrison thought went on forever. The melodic notes are depicted amongst the "waves" of the crosswalk at the entry of the Wills Park pool. (The album cover of Abbey Road fetures an iconic image of the fab four crossing a crosswalk in front of EMI studios in London and where the band recorded this, their final album.) |
Mondrian CrosswalkAlpharetta Arts Center (2022)
The inspiration for this crosswalk design was the work by artis Piet Mondrian. A Dutch abstract artist and founder of the modern De Stijl (The Style) art movement, Mondrian (1872-1944) was known for his linear, primary-hued compositions which were reflective of the outside world- reduced to pure abstraction- simplified to a "univeraal aesthetic languate". His iconic works remain influential in design and popular culture to this day. The crosswalk is located at the Alpharetta Arts Center. |
